On Sunday, November 27, 2011 the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty, National College for Public Administration & Governance and APEX are inviting all runners to the Freedom Run to be held at the Academic Oval, UP Diliman. It is their way of celebrating the freedom we now enjoy because of the bravery of Ninoy Aquino who celebrates his birthday on this day.
adidas King of the Road
On October 23, 2011, one of the most anticipated run will take place at the Bonifacio Global City, the adidas King of the Road and it expects 4,000 runners to join this event. This year’s theme is entitled ‘Colours’. It is represented through the different coloured adidas singlets participants will wear.
The iamninoy-iamcory runners group is a running partner of this event. We are truly grateful for the invitation and hope that increased awareness for our beneficiary, 57:75 Movement will be achieved. The plight of our less privileged school children continues and we need to do our share to help them receive an education. Understandably, the adidas singlets will be the preferred shirt however, the iamninoy-iamcory runners shirt can be used as an extra shirt. A little exposure for our advocacy will be greatly aprreciated.
The adidas King of the Road is different because it will be held in five countries across the region, that is, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines. Each country is a qualifying leg towards the finals. The winner and runner-up of each country’s 16.8km category will win an all-expenses paid trip to the Philippines to compete with the best of the best in Southeast Asia. Why the category 16.8 kms? Because 16.8 kms multiplied by 5 (the five countries participating) equals 84 kms that translates to two full marathons. Ergo, you’ll be able to complete two mary’s.
Registration is still open! To register, visit the adidas King of the Road website for online credit card payment or drop by adidas stores for cash payments.
Event categories and race fees: P1,050 – 5km, P1,300 – 16.8km, P1,050 – 21k
Runners Donate To Build A School
Runners who participated in the EDSA Run in Metro Manila as well as in Zamboanga, Bicol, Pampanga, Sultan Kudarat, Davao, Zambales, Zamboanga Sibugay, Vigan, Cebu and Dipolog together raised a total of Php 1,236,400.65. Yes!!! A little over ONE MILLION pesos! Take a bow hero runners. Be proud.
The donation will go to building classrooms so that more children will have opportunities, more chances to live happier and stable lives and hopefully provide better living conditions for their families. These children want nothing more than comfort of life and education. These are their rights.
Thank you runners for taking part in this worthy endeavor. The feeling of making a difference in a child’s life while doing our favorite sport is indescribable. The effort placed in training and the lack of sleep are not sacrifices after all when a smile is placed on a child’s face.
Be inspired to continue the task of creating awareness for our beneficiary, the 57:75 Movement. Run for the children. Run for their education. Run for their future.
